Foong Yeng Yeng
was born on 27/08/1995, a Malaysian Visual Artist in Kuala Lumpur received a professional Diploma in Fine Art from the Malaysian institute of art (MIA) in 2017. Her passion in art started when she was 5 years old, when she attended an art tuition centre learning the basics. In primary and secondary school years she participated in various art competitions and activities gaining recognition from these institutions. In 2012, she was a winner of the Malaysia’s top 10 outstanding young artist competition organized by The One Academy and was awarded a prize of RM5000 scholarship to pursue her studies at the Malaysian Institute of Art. She has also received merit awards from the Malaysian Institute of Art for her academic excellence. In 2016, she participated in her first public group exhibition, “EH WAU BULAN”, organized by Redbull Sdn. Bhd. Malaysia at Publika White Box, Kuala Lumpur, with an artwork entitled “SKILLFUL GRANDMA” exhibited the her skill on using Mixed Media & collage on canvas. In 2017, she participated in the “101 Women Show: (DI MANA YOUNG?)” staged by the National art gallery Malaysia, with an artwork entitled “WOMEN” using Mixed Media and collage on plastic. In the same year, she lead of a group 8 MIA student completed a mural painting in 3 days and showcased at the “BLOSSOM ART FESTIVAL 2017 MURAL PAINTING” at the corridor of Ampang Park LRT station, Kuala Lumpur, organized by Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA). She was selected as one of the Young Art Entrepreneurs (YAE) by the National Art Gallery Malaysia. In 2018 , Professor Teh Hock Aunn of Glasgow, Scotland invited her to the Hua Lian High School at Taiping as an Art Teacher where she held workshop and sharing session with students. She was also invited as an Artist in the “FLYING HIGH” Group Exhibition staged by the National Art Gallery Malaysia and participated in the Oversea Artist Residency programme at the Art Space Gallery: “Untitled Space” of Shanghai, China. She was invited to the “IN-SITU” Artist Studios and Art Gallery in Hong Kong. Yeng Yeng was also invited as a judge for the “World No Tobacco” Poster art competition, Organized by UPM Care Department, University Putra Malaysia. In Nov 2018, Yeng Yeng was being The Most Outstanding student of 2018 from Malaysian Institute of Art, received the merit award with RM 500 Cash and £2000 scholarship for programme of choice to study at the the Middlesex University, London. In Dec 2018, she participated her painting: “THE BEAUTY OF MY EYE” at the Art Competition of “ART AGAINST AIDS 2018” organized by ONE® Condoms, Karex and emerged as first runner up champion. In 2019, her acrylic painting of “HE LE” exhibited in the Art Collection Gallary “Rumah Malaysia” at the Consulate General of Malaysia in Hong Kong.. Her latest works of her 100-meter acrylic painting, namely “Malaysia Culture Series” has been displaying at the Musuem Negara of Malaysia. The experience and explosure of her art acitivies throughout her career, enabled her in building personal relationships with art and to continue as a practicing artist to be inspired with the local artists contemporary society; where multicultural expression sparks fresh perspectives and ideas. One of her goal in pursuing acrylic painting on canvas art is to present the beautiful multicultural Malaysia society with a theme of “Time Corridor of Malaysia Culture”. |
